To be added, most grades were washed out.
Vs. Wodonga Wodonga 5/137 T. Hill 3/19, T. Dean 1/32, M. Cambey 1/23 St.Patrick's 1/145 J. Duck 80*, M. Brennan 40*
Vs Nth Albury Green . The chaps made 133 in the first innings, to which North replied with 155 (Vinnie Jones 4/20, Mick Cambey 3/51). Our boys batted again, and things looked grim until Vinnie (57*) and Brendan Rofe (20) steadied the ship, helping the side reach a score of 6/93 at stumps.
Vs Wodonga Raiders "Rowdy" won the toss, and sent Raiders in. At one stage they were 4/100, but in the end were all out for 140, with Travis Payne (3/24), Paul Singline 3/17, and Heath Naughton (2/16) the pick of the bowlers. Ken Mansell and "Kransky" Kreutzberger got one each. We were 7 wickets down when the score was reached, and went on to make 8/148, the top scorers being Kreutzy (40), Paul Singline (27), Dean Carroll (23), and Daniel Squires 21.
Vs. East Albury. After winning the toss, Captain Rowdy sent the Crows in, and verily were they routed for 85. Cameron Furze took 3/10, James Kreutzberger 3/15, Ken Mansell 2/14, and Kane Arendarcikas and Travis Payne got one each. Kane top scored in the relatively dismal but winning total of 114, making 36. He was aided by Kenny Mansell with 23, Dave Martin with 19 and "Slasher" Furze with 13. Incidentally, Furburglar's LBW was apparently the plumbest seen since the erection of the Great Pyramid of Giza. He apparently started to walk before the nut made contact with his hip outside the line of Perth and Honolulu.
Vs. East Albury. Thankfully losing the toss, we sent East in, and they compiled what I thought was a handy 158 in their allotted 40 overs. The wicket takers were "Pattersons" Kersey with 2/26, and "Horse" Azzi with 2/39. Paul Kersey made a bid for the MOM with 57 and had a fine partnership of 118 with Casey Arendarcikas, who made 51. "The Ol' Champ", Peter Duck, also educated some of the young opposition bowlers with 33 in our reply of 6/181, ensuring a very good win.
Vs Wodonga 1. Our boys managed to hold the bad guys to 7/169, with "Insy" Burgey capturing 3/36. Unfortunately, we could only manage 7/149, with Froggy Croker top scoring with 34, and Robbo whacking 26*, and Goochy Nicholls 21.
The chaps had the bye, although Mick Cambey distinguished himself by playing in the twos and acting as a human cricket ball magnet, and very efficiently too! he lusted after the title of the new "Phantom" - no bat no bowl etc.
Vs North Albury. The chaps compiled 9/160, with Captain Rowdy leading the way with 44. He was ably assisted by Kreutzy (32), Paul Kersey (23), Kenny Mansell (22), and Trav. Payne (14*). A good batting effort against some quality bowling. When they bowled, Furzey (4/26) and Heath Naughton (3/24) acted as the butchers, assisted by Kane Arendarcikas (2/27) and Payney with 1/16.
It's been a while since we've beaten North at a 1st grade level, and Saturday night was fairly raucous! Ashley, it was a &*%#$# blinder!!
Vs North Albury We lost the toss, and fielded on a pretty good deck, with a bit of sideways movement in it early. North made 7/148, the pick of the bowlers being Casey Arendarcikas with 4/31. We fell short in reply by 11 runs, Casey making a chanceless 70*. His fine efforts were not assisted by the rest of the top order. (Gnashing of teeth and loud rude words).
Vs. North Albury Green. A good total in 40 overs of 8/205, with "Mini Maher" Matsinos 68, Nicholson 56, and "Oy" Star 31*. North had a dip, getting 8/181 in reply, but were restricted by "Fast Eddie" Brosolo, who collected 3/34.
Vs East Albury. Not a red-letter day for the boys, struggling to 87 in reply to 6/145, with Brendan Rofe getting 2/10.
Vs Tallangatta The lads racked up 174 on the excellent Tallangatta deck, despite being in the poop at 8/93. Amongst the runs were Travis Payne (59), Kano Arendarcikas in a more customary number 7 possy with 22, "Christmas" Carroll with 21, and Kreutzy at the top of the order with 20. The fielding and bowling effort was good, and Tallangatta could only manage 8/141 in their 50 overs. Wicket takers were "Sooky" Naughto with 3/35, Kenny Mansell with 2/15, Kreutzy 1/15, Travis with 1/19, and Kano with 1/19. A good win, especially with the tail wagging.
Vs Tallangatta We won the toss and batted on a good deck at home, making 9/187 from our 40 overs. Top scorers were "Calla" Maher(y) (52), the "Old Champ" (35), and "Plugger" Lethbridge (33*). Tallangatta whacked up a neat 150, restricted by the big "Horse" Azzi, who captured 5/27.
Vs Lavington The ones cemented 4th place on the ABCA ladder with a convincing victory against the highly rated Lavington side. Rowdy Carroll won the toss and inserted the Blues, who made 156, wickets shared between Kreutzy (4/31), Kano Arendarcikas (2/27), Buzz Naughton (2/26), Kenny Mansell(1/28), and the firey nasty bitey Travis Payne (1/11). One of Kreutzy's wickets was that of his younger brother, which may make for a topic of conversation around their dinner table this Christmas!!
With the bat, Rowdy lead from the front with 89. He was ably assisted by Kane with 45 as the chaps quilted 5/165 in their 50 overs. The stumps night was attacked with joy in the heart and a song on the lips!
Vs. Lavington After winning the toss, Lavington were put in on our home deck, and only managed 66, with big Horse Azzi collecting 3/12, and Karl Jacka 4/18. In reply, we amassed 7/171, with Casey Arendarcikas pressuring the selectors yet again with a good 56, Kirk Savage cracking 30, Plugger Lethbridge 27, and Paddy Plummer 25*.
Vs Lavington. The thirsties made 3/182, with Froggy Croker 42, Matso 40, Oy Star 38*, and Awbo 24*. Lavington could only manage 9/113, Andy McConville the chief destroyer with 3/33.
Vs Wodonga 2. Unfortunately, the result here was not what the chaps had hoped for, as their score of 148 (T.Lethbridge 30, Robinson 26) was no match for the opposition's 6/187. Wicket takers were T. Hill 2/35, M. Cambey 2/37, and V. Jones 2/47.
Vs SS&A The ones got out of jail, winning by just a few runs. We made 6/151, with James Kreutzberger 58 and Kenny Mansell 32*. SS were all out for 157, Kenny again figuring with 4/24, and Heath Naughton 3/15.
Vs SS&A Under the stirring leadership of stand-in Captain David Martin, the lads pumped their opposition by a big margin. They made 9/156, with "Cala" Maher 34, Horse Azzi 26, and Karl Jacka 25. They then rolled SS for 74, as Plugger Lethbridge bamboozled the opposition batsmen snavelling 5/5, "Horse" Azzi 3/22, and "Trout" Salmon 2/22.
Vs SS&A St. Patrick's 7/217 V. Jones 69, J. Duck 53, M. Cambey 28. SS&A replied with 6/220, V. Jones getting 2/28 .
Vs Wodonga. Lost badly, making only 90, Cameron Furze making 38.Wodonga replied with 7/201, Casey Arendarcikas collecting 2/32. Not much to be said really.
Vs Wodonga. As for the senior grade - pumped. We made only 89 (Jacka 39), and were smacked around to the tune of 3/170, Wally Cribbes getting 3/17. We are definitely not much chop on the concrete jungle.
Vs East Albury. At Collings, the chaps lashed 4/176, with Peter Nicholls 88 and Paul Scannell 26. They got East out for 81, Eddie Brosolo the destroyer with 5/23, and Chris Glennane 2/33.
Vs Nth Alb (Gold) The boys smacked up 7/252, the principle scorer being (33.4) Vince Jones (el Presidente) making a magnificent 106* and Tony "The Undulator" Hill 46. North managed only 151, with V.J. collecting 3/21 (would have to be M.O.M.) and Hilly 4/34. The Hilly and Veej show, looks like there was only 2 of them having a dip:-))
Vs. Wodonga Raiders. The chaps were in trouble at 3/20 and then 7/89, but were rescued by Furzey (79) and Casey Arendarcikas (81) Paul Kersey had made a valuable 38 early on. Kane Arendarcikas then collected a wicket on the last ball of the day, with the Raiders 1/12 at stumps.
On the second day of the game, Furzey (3/19) and Naughto (3/25) kept the Raiders to 93, ably assisted by Kenny Mansell (2/16) and Kane, who picked up another wicket to finish with 2/25. The boys then batted again for 3/65, Mick Carroll getting 30 and Danny Squires 24.
Vs Wodonga Raiders. An excellent bowling effort restricted the opposition to 85. Wicket takers were Kirk Savage (3/14) and Karl Jacka 3/36. We are 4/227 at stumps, with Peter Duck (the 'Ol Champ) making 148 (21 x 4 and 1 x 6) and Plugger Lethbridge 33.
Plugger then followed up as we declared at our overnight score, by taking 5/17, Raiders only making 73, so they were outrighted by an innings and 64 runs. Cool!
Vs Wodonga 2. With Jason "Froggy" Croker (69), Mark Awburn (63), Gary Drummond (31), and Scanners (25), the lads totaled 253, with the opposition yet to bat.
When they did, they had to do it twice, making 99 in their first dig (Brosolo 4/37, Greeny 3/25) and 4/106 in their second (Glennane 1/6, Brosolo 1/14). Routed 'em hard and long.
Vs Wodonga Raiders. With the gnarly figures of 5/24, Troy "Jimmy" Dean helped restrict the opposition to 150. At stumps, the Whites were 2/59 in reply, with Dave Ryan on 33*. Dave went on to score 98 (bugger!) in the score of 8/228. Others to feature were Vince Jones 58*, and Mick Cambey 21.
The Raiders batted twice for 150 and 133, with Hilly collecting 3/6 in the second dig. In our second innings, Buddha Brennan quilted 27* of the 1/60 scoreline. An outright that was sorely needed to keep the boys in the finals race.
Vs East Albury Heath Naughton (4/20), Paul Azzi (1/10), Kane Arendarcikas (2/36), Furzey (1/23), and Kenny Mansell (1/25) combined to keep the opposition to 151, on a nasty sticky day. The play was riveting enough to cause our illustrious coach to nod off for a couple of hours, even while tea was taken.
In reply, we are 0/15.
Bad Karma. In a day apparently marred by gratuitous sledging, the chaps were routed for 120. Paul Singline carried on to 31 and Casey Arendarcikas made 33, but nobody else made an impact. Rain throughout the week made conditions tough, but the score should have been gettable. East batted again for 1/52, Naughto (Buzz Lightyear) collecting the wicket.
Vs East Albury Losing the toss turned out to be not a great problem, as Plugger Lethbridge took another "Michelle Pfeiffer" - 5/31, with Kirk Savage collecting 4/10, restricting East to 98. With new boy Aaron West on 26*, we are 3/54 in reply.
Aaron turned his 26 into 68, and was backed up by 24 from David Martin, in our reply of 142. It was short of the 200 I asked for, but the deck was seaming about a bit. Or so the batsmen said - I certainly didn't notice too much movement in my well compiled 7* before I ran Trout out. Trout (Danny Salmon) has batted 4 times this season, and been run out 4 times. Hmmmm.
When East batted again they could only manage 83, as Wally Cribbes snared 3/18, and Plugger another couple for not many. There was no time to have a bat and go for the outright, and young Patty Plummer regaled us with "1/0 you bloody beauty" in the last over
Vs Wodonga Raiders While only making 153 (Simpson 35, "Oy" Star 27), Fast Eddie Brosolo has so far collected 3/28 as the Raiders struggled to 7/59 at stumps.
Eddie finished the Raiders off for 65 with the fine figures of 6/29. When the chaps batted again, Jason Croker made 47, and Phil (Oy, Mon, Trick etc. etc.) Star slapped up 23* in the total of 3/118. Going the "guts", the evergreen Scanners (Paul Scannell) bamboozled 5/10 as the boys just missed the outright, getting Raiders 5/70 in their second innings.
Vs Wodonga 1 The very experienced Mick Cambey tweaked his way to 4/62, as the opposition finished at 8/239, with our chaps yet to bat.
When they did, stuff happened, especially of the acrimonious type. They fell 21 runs short, in spite of a magnificent 100 run last stand from Brendan Rofe (28) and Troy Dean (67*). "Veej" (Vince Jones) chimed in with 52. Allegedly, after an appeal for LBW, and as the last 2 batsmen are attempting to run, a Wodonga fielder physically restrained Rofey, telling he was out LBW. While the merits of this were being discussed, some other "sportsman" ran him out. I remember there being some rule about batsmen being not out, when they are under a misapprehension that they are out, for a certain reason when they are in fact, not. (if that makes any sense). Go figure.
Vs. North Albury On the slow Xavier ground, the chaps amassed 192 after being put in. The deck has been seaming about a fair bit, so it is a creditable total by any measure (Crikey, I've certainly been unplayable, so imagine how "good" bowlers have gone). Dean Carroll (Rowdy) top scored with 46, Kreutzenbergerschnitzelheisener (Irish James) cracked 31, Furzey 31, "Wedding" Singline 27, with "Christmas" Carroll quilting 2 sixers in his 12* at the end.
And then.......it went down to the wire, North winning by 2 wickets in the last over. Wicket takers were Heath "Who Let the Dogs Out" Naughton (3/47), Furzey (1/46), Kane Arendarcikas (1/31), and debutante Aaron West (2/28).
Vs. North Albury We won the toss and sent the opposition in. This is a clash for top of the table, we were missing a bowler on the second week In the event, we did well to hold them to 194. Wicket takers were Wally Cribbes (3/29), "Horse" Azzi (2/50 odd), and Daniel "Tree Fitty!" Squires (1/4). A good team effort, as they threatened to get away on a few occasions, but were reined in. The job is ahead! We are 0/9 in reply, Luke Drummond and Squiresy officiating.
The batting effort was to say the least, dismal. Good bowling on a seaming deck had us out for 97, top scorer being "Mini-Maher" Matsinos with 23, and a fine battling effort by Lukey Drummond. Luke made 16ish, but had to concentrate very hard to survive the moving pill. We bowled again, and with ample assistance from the seaming and variably bouncing wicket collected 6/53 before stumps, Daniel "Butters" Squires taking 4/14 for the team.
Vs. SS&A. The chaps will be chasing 249 at Xavier 2, the chief destroyer being H.M.A.S. Burge, with 3/53. Anecdotes abound regarding this day's cricket, and when I'm apprised of them, so shall you be dear reader.
Bugger. No results in the paper, but from the evening of good fellowship on Saturday, I know that the chaps made the runs 4 wickets down. News at 11.
Vs. Tallangatta After a pleasant bus trip out to the picturesque locale of the Tallangatta Showgrounds, battle was joined. Vinnie's chaps decimated the Bushies for 107, Mick Cambey bamboozling up the tidy figures of 6/43. In reply, Dave Ryan has collected 53*, and "Buddha" Brennan 57, recording a win on first innings already (2/139). Vince plans to go for an hour or so and then push for the outright.
Dave went on to 102* ably assisted by Chris Willman with 55, in the total of 5/243. They were then able to roll Tallangatta for 106, snavelling the outright with only 4 balls to spare. H.M.A.S. Hill (3/9) and Marvelous Mick Cambey (surely not far from an Indian tour call up - 3/28) were the wicket takers.Vs Tallangatta After winning the toss, Cap'n Rowdy inserted the opposition. Things weren't looking too flash at 3/144, but some good bowling, especially from Heath Naughton, reined the score in to 200. Heath got 6/47, Kane Arendarcikas 2/39, with younger brother Casey collecting 1/12 as well.
In reply, the top order fired, the total reaching 6/260. Run makers were Kenny Mansell (36), James Kreutzberger (80), Dean Carroll (27), Aaron West (29), Casey Arendarcikas (42), and Kane Arendarcikas (27*). They face Wodonga next week in the first semi, probably out at Tallangatta.
Vs Tallangatta Also winning the toss and fielding, we uprooted the Bushies for 129. Wicket takers were Dave Martin 2/11, Chuck 2/28, Kirk Savage 2/not many
After losing Calla Maheri for SFA, Luke Drummond (48*) and "Toad" Croker (42*) saw us to 1/95 at stumps. We continued on, using the day for batting practice. Luke got 51, Jason 54, Kirk Savage 85, Karl Jacka 54, Paul Azzi 58*, in the total of 385. Next week in the semi, we play East Albury, venue TBA.
Vs Tallangatta "Gob" O'Brien (3/21) and "Virgil" Brosolo (3/44) ripped the heart out of Tallangatta, as they were skittled for 117, in a slow day's cricket. In reply, the chaps plundered 6/437, with Paul Scannell retiring after 118*, Mark Awburn 88, Phil Star 78, Peter Nicholls 63, M. Green 26, and Burgey 22*. This enabled them to fall in by 320 runs, and they play the Whites in next week's semi.
Vs North Albury Green The chaps are 2/54 chasing 193, Troy Dean collecting 3/very few at the death. In an amazing end to the game and enabling the Whites to challenge the Greens in next weeks semi, the lads secured an outright with four balls to spare. Dave Ryan carted 145,Vince Jones 71, and Chris Willman 41 in the 338 total. They then rolled the opposition for 45, Greenie collecting 4/19 and Tony Hill 3/26.
Wodonga Vs. St Patricks at Murrayfield
We had 40mm of rain on Friday night, and all games were affected to some
degree. After some unnecessary procrastination by the officials, the ones eventually
got a start at about 2:30pm. Wodonga were inserted and attempted to bat for
as long as possible, as they finished above us, and the game had reverted to
ordinary rules due to the lost time. They lasted for 109 overs.

St. Patricks Green Vs. St.Patricks White at Xavier 2 ("The Cauldron")
A titanic struggle, with the underdogs coming out on top. The batting was
very un-thirds like, and the game was very tense, despite the low scores.

Wodonga 1 Vs. St. Patricks White at Xavier 2 ("The Cauldron")
A sensational effort by the Whites to get to the GF from about 8th, and having
3 outrights to do it! There was talk that the game would be a wipeout, but as
you can see, they had a red hot go, and the game was very close. We are all
very proud of them.
