Well the B Grade boys did us proud over the weekend by taking out the 2015/16 Provincial B Grade premiership in a nail-biter at Xavier Dome yesterday.
The lads were travelling relatively comfortably on Saturday getting to tea only 1 down with about 80 odd on the board, but a flurry of wickets after tea saw them bowled out for 142. They were not able to grab a wicket in the 8 odd overs they bowled at Lavington that evening.
Yesterday everything seemed to go nicely to plan with the boys able to grab wickets at regular intervals to have Lavington 5/43 at tea and then 8/76 by the next drinks break after tea. We then got them to 9/100 and there was a bit of a feeling that I would be over quickly – but the Chris Whelan from Lavington had other ideas and proceeded to take the attack up to the boys nudging them ever closer to the required target. But it was Big Motor (Patty Star) who clean bowled the No. 11 batsman Ash Lafferty (leaving Whelan on 45*) to seal a thrilling 10 run win.
The boys celebrated hard (well most did – some of them had school the next day!) to cap of back to back flags for the B Grade side.
Well done Patty Boys!
